Greater Tourism

Greater Times

Touch Michigan’s history as you tour our Capitol or settle into a stadium seat at a Big Ten college game. Stroll through our museums and art fairs. Get your hands dirty exploring dozens of U-pick farms or get lost in the magic of an evening’s theatrical performance. From museums, galleries and festivals to shopping, dining and nightlife, Greater Lansing offers a rich experience for everyone. Check out a few of the highlights:

  • Catch the Express. The Entertainment Express trolley, that is. The trolley runs Thursday through Saturday evenings along our four-mile entertainment district. Grab some friends and enjoy diverse dining and nightlife options, including dance clubs, sports bars, live jazz music, and charming Irish pubs.
  • Festivals galore! The Greater Lansing region is home to more than 40 premier festivals celebrating arts, culture, music and our unique heritage. You can hit a different festival every weekend from May to September. Visit the calendar of events for details.
  • Shopping, anyone? From designer to discount, Greater Lansing offers several shopping destinations sure to satisfy your craving for acquiring the latest and greatest in fashion and home apparel. Quaint boutiques line the streets of Old Town,  and three large shopping centers – Meridian Mall, Lansing Mall and Eastwood Towne Center – flank the region.
  • Broadway in your backyard. The Wharton Center for Performing Arts offers theatergoers access to nationally acclaimed Broadway hits like Wicked, The Lion King, Avenue Q and more!
  • Weekend warrior? Tee off at one of our premier golf courses – Greater Lansing offers more than 30 courses within 30 miles. Golf not your thing? Skate parks, aquatic centers, a BMX track, miles of mountain biking trails and more await.
  • Rather watch someone else sweat? Enjoy Big Ten sporting action on the campus of Michigan State University. (Tailgating along the banks of the Red Cedar River before a Spartan football game is a must.) Kids will love taking in a minor league baseball game at Oldsmobile Park, where they can cheer on the Lansing Lugnuts.
  • Get back to nature. More than 30 historic gardens, parks, and nature centers provide picturesque settings for picnics, hiking, boating, camping, fishing, swimming and more. Stroll the Lansing River Trail – a key reason Lansing was recently named one of our nation’s “10 Cool Capitals” by walking advocate Sue Parks.
